ORIGIN

During 1995, some Sai Sevadal brothers in Bangalore, Kolar Gold Fields, Chennai, etc.,  planned to buy plots at Puttaparthy with intention to construct their own homes for stay whenever they visited Puttaparthy and if Swami wills permanently after retirement.  After seeing the sky-high cost of the lands and plots in Puttaparthy they decided to buy few acres of land, make small plots to share among themselves. Then few senior executives and Brindavan Sevadal members took the responsibility of coordinating land purchase, forming sites, etc..  For this purpose a coordinating Forum named as ‘Brindavan Builders’ was formed. 

 Strategic Direction

With contributions of all members, about 4.3 acres of land were bought and formed about 100 plots with plan to name the place as ‘Sai Darshan Township’. These plots were shared by the Brindavan Sevadal and other senior devotees from various places. Today the sites measuring 30’x40’ size in the open market cost Rs.1.50 to 2.00 Lakh in Puttaparthy, whereas by the joint co-operative venture, the members could get the plots around Rs.40000 all-inclusive. In fact near Gokulam the land cost is Rs.2.00 Lakh to Rs.2.50 Lakh per ‘CENT’ (465 sft.) That is one-acre (100 cents) of land near Gokulam [opp. Bus depot and Music college] are quoted between Rs.200 and 250 Lakh (Rs.20 million to 25 million). In Chitravathi Road, the land prices are Rs.3.00 Lakh per cent.

After having been successful in the co-operative venture, it was decided to promote a full pledged Co-operative Housing Society in Puttaparthy for such future ventures. That is how the FIRST AND ONLY Co-operative Housing Institution – the ‘Sai Darshan Mutually Aided Co-operative Township Hosing Society Limited’ - registered under the Andhra Pradesh Mutually Aided Co-operative Societies Act, 1995 came into existence in Puttaparthy. Brindavan Builders then decided to launch an apartment project – ‘Sai Darshan Manor’ - in Puttaparthy to provide apartments also comparatively at the most economical cost with amenities, which are not provided by others. With Swami's grace the project is progressing and nearing completion.
